The Romans in Bucks

  12th September 2010,10.00 to 4.30

Venue: Buckingham

Cost: £30

Who were the Romans? Why did they come here and where were they in Buckinghamshire? How do we know? All these questions (and more) will be answered during the day. This is a very active, hands-on day with lots of real Roman artefacts to handle.

A day-school with classroom sessions in the morning and field visits in the afternoon.

We will be looking at the evidence for the Romans - everything from maps to building materials to coins, pottery and other artefacts.

You will be able to handle real Roman artefacts and discover what they tell us about the Romans in Buckinghamshire.

Locations in and around Milton Keynes and Buckingham (morning venue near Buckingham and the field sites are to include Bancroft Villa and the burial mounds near Buckingham).

Case studies include the Hambleden and Bancroft Villas, amongst others.

This is a very interesting insight into what we know about this intriguing part of our history, and shows first-hand evidence from finds and the sites.

To reserve your place: please send a cheque for £30 made payable to 'Dr J. Eyers' to the address below. Full details will be sent by return post.
